The Vermilion Lakes are a series of lakes located immediately west of Banff, Alberta, in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The three lakes are formed in the Bow River valley, in the Banff National Park, at the foot of Mount Norquay. The area offers wildlife viewing opportunities and breathtaking scenery.

Where can I park at Vermilion Lakes?

About one mile to the west along Vermilion Lakes Drive from the Norquay road intersection there is a small parking lot and dock on the north shore of First Vermilion Lake. Another mile to the west there is another parking lot and dock at Second Vermilion Lake.

At only 24km in length, the Lake Minnewanka scenic drive is relatively short and if you were planning on just driving this loop, you could feasibly do this in 20-25 minutes. Bighorn sheep are frequent visitors to Lake Minnewanka and the road that loops around it.
